The Story of RESCENE’s Rise

Why RESCENE,
Why Now?

They were not a group that suddenly took off because of one meme. This is the story of years of moments built at a small agency, the human charm of five members, good music rediscovered, and REMINE’s time and support—all blooming at once.

The point is not that “a meme went viral.”
It is that the meme led people to the music.

Someone laughed at a clip on YouTube, searched for a member’s name, found another member’s content, then listened to a two-year-old song. As that path repeated, attention became more than a burst of views—it became movement in the fandom and the charts.

How did they get here?

Debut, years of accumulated content, public discovery and a chart resurgence followed one another.

  1. 01

Debuting as a new agency’s first girl group

RESCENE—Woni, Liv, Minami, May and Zena—debuted as The Muse Entertainment’s first girl group. Their name combines the ideas of Scene and Scent: music that brings a moment and its fragrance back to mind.

LOVE ATTACK starts at No. 904

LOVE ATTACK, the title track from their first mini album SCENEDROME, debuted at No. 904 on Melon’s daily chart. The song found an audience, but the group did not have the instant reach often available to acts from major agencies.

  3. 03

Building 1,500 moments out of sight

Even when broadcast opportunities were scarce, they kept creating livestreams, short-form videos and original content. More than 1,500 online uploads over two years became the foundation of their relationship with REMINE.

Woni’s driving lessons open the first door

On the web variety show My Driving Lesson Uncle (나의 연수 아저씨), Woni developed an uncle-and-niece dynamic with Lee Sun-min and Yoo Young-woo. Her regional dialect, easygoing manner and unflustered reactions reached viewers first as a person—even those unfamiliar with idols.

    “Geoje Yaho” crosses the algorithm

On Anwonjalbu, Minami visited Woni’s hometown of Geoje in her gyaru character. Her “Geoje Yaho” moment spread widely. Viewers then discovered the other members in sequence: Zena’s Silla princess, and Liv and May’s Rit and Met.

This fan archive’s interpretation

Why did people connect so strongly?

Based on reporting and public data, we see three reasons behind the response.

01

Fans watched them grow, not arrive fully formed

This was not a team guaranteed major stages and a huge promotional push from the start. Fans watched a new agency’s first girl group try, stumble and build again through their content. That is why each rise on the charts feels less like someone else’s record and more like a change everyone helped create.

02

People connected with them as people before seeing them as idols

Their Geoje and Gyeongju dialects, honest reactions in unfamiliar situations and easy rapport with guests from other generations revealed qualities that are hard to manufacture. Their polished stage presence and down-to-earth personalities offstage made each other stand out even more.

03

The buzz moved through all five members—and into the music

Attention that began with Woni led to distinct moments from Minami, Zena, Liv and May, and ultimately back to LOVE ATTACK and the songs already in their catalog. As REMINE shared those moments and songs, a passing meme became growth in both the fandom and the charts.

From one member to all five

The member moments that moved the story

Each character drew its strength not from a forced concept, but from the members’ real voices, hometowns and relationships.

Woni · Opening the first door with her “uncles”

Her easygoing reactions and Geoje dialect introduced RESCENE through a person before an idol.

Minami · “Geoje Yaho” becomes the second doorway

Her gyaru character’s offbeat reactions and an unexpected pairing created a short, unforgettable moment.

Zena · Expanding the world as a Silla princess

Her Gyeongju dialect and Silla-princess character turned one viral moment into a story about the whole team.

Liv and May · Keeping the story moving as Rit and Met

Their chemistry—and Liv’s perfectly timed “You too? Me too!”—helped viewers discover all five members.
